{Social Distancing: Week 3 (SDW3)}

Week 3 has been better in many ways. School was easier to complete, I was able to "talk" to friends while maintaining social distancing rules, and I got myself on a more "normal" schedule for our morning routine. Schooling with Ruthie, my 1st grader, went a lot better since I assigned my older 4 girls specific times to play with/entertain my little boys.  We tended to finish her school work by noon each day. Ruthie was also able to Zoom with her Spanish/math teacher one-on-one a couple of times throughout the week. Seeing her teacher and receiving individualized instruction was so good for her emotionally and academically. Ruthie was also able to Zoom with her class and both teachers for a little bit one morning. This is really the first time she has seen her friends and had an opportunity to talk to them. I think it was the highlight of the week for both of us! Ruthie talking with her class A couple of mornings this week I met a friend in a parki...

Best Friends, Sorta

Man, this week has flown by for us! Ta has hit two developmental milestones that have greatly affected his relationship with Th, and contributed to the peace among the family: he learned to wear flip-flops and how to pump his legs on the swing! These are HUGE milestones for him as he was getting tired of always relying on someone me to have have to help him with his sandals and push him on the swing. Trust me, I was just as tired of having to help him! This morning, not too much before 9am, both boys were outside as I was doing laundry and other stuff downstairs. I had the windows open so I could hear and see them, and for almost an hour, they just swung together and talked. It was nice to see them relating so well. Not being close in age to either of my siblings, this type of bond is something I always wanted my own children to experience, and thankfully, they are. I later found out they were talking about Carowinds, an amusement park in Charlotte, because we are headed there tomor...

Pain, Pain, Go Away!

I have had a headache for about a day and a half. I am going to begin journaling them so the next time I see my doctor, I can hopefully provide some helpful information in diagnosing and treating them. It started about 1:30pm yesterday, and I had about 20 minutes before I had to start getting the kids ready for a birthday party, so I laid down in bed. I got up at 2pm with the boys, and by then my head was a full-fledged headache. I got the kids ready and we left for the party. By 4pm, I could hardly stand to keep my eyes open because my head hurt so badly. But, the party wasn't over for another hour so I didn't have much of a choice. I drank a can of Coke thinking the caffeine would help, and munched on some veggies to keep from getting nauseous. By the time we left at 5pm, my headache consumed all of my thoughts. I had to drive 35 minutes across town to meet TJ since neither he nor the kids ate (the kids were too busy having fun at the party to care about eating, and TJ was c...
